Poem
Ashes
2 September 2026
What am I but a person,
an empty vessel behind a curtain.
A hollow skull and a fragile bone, now absent my beknown.
And of course, you were once a person,
a vibrant fire in the ambience of earthly wings,
where we once connected.
But now heaven sweetly sings.
But what do I do with this little, tiny jar?
This jar I’m now holding seems so close, yet so far.
It’s utterly depleting to know your heart is no longer beating.
All that remains is your ashes in a jar,
But the love I still feel is beyond surreal
All is left is time to reveal.
